Liebe Musik Freunde
Mit
„Live“ from ..
eingeladen …
… die Musigbhaltet
Sie im Schuss mit äme Lächle!
Dear
Friends
„Live“
from …
… is the
theme for today with concerts from three venues, where you normally would not
expect to find Swing and Jazz concerts. They are unusual, since Carnegie Hall
catered primarily to the “longer haired side of the fence” (Leonard Bernstein’s
words), the Lewisohn Stadium was the sports field for the City of New York
College and the Superdome in New Orleans was designed and built for sports and
convention events.
We have
visited hundreds of Dixie and Big Band concerts. The majority of them were held
in Clubs, Restaurants, Parks and a few in concert halls and music theaters with
up to 2’000 seats. The excerpts of concerts you will hear in this program were
recorded in 1939, 1956 and 1975. They are witnesses not only of the Swing and
Big Band Era but also show the development in sound techniques.
Have a
seat,
relax and
keep swinging and smiling!
